The village of Armação de Pêra was once a quaint fishing village which had been known for the locally made tackle that was used for catching tuna. The village was named after this tackle and while fishing has been an important part of the history of Armação de Pêra, today it is known mostly for its pristine beaches which attract countless vacationers every single year.

Like much of the Algarve coastline, the area surrounding Armação de Pêra is lined with impressive limestone cliffs that protect some of the most awe-inspiring golden beaches imaginable. All along the coastline you will find a number of hidden coves, rock pools and secluded beaches that beckon one to come and explore them.

Many of the best beaches in the area cannot be accessed by foot; you will have to rent a boat to get to them. It is seclusion at its finest and many people simply love the peace and quiet of a secluded beach. There are many boats available to vacationers during the summer months. They offer tours of the coast and make numerous stops at various secluded destinations tucked away along the cliffs.

Because the village of Armação de Pêra has grown over the years into a resort town, you will find a number of great shops, boutiques, restraints, bakeries and taverns located all throughout the city. While most of these can be found along the main beach, there are many others to be discovered along the cobblestone paths that make their way through the city.

The night life in Armação de Pêra gets lively during the summer months with many bars staying open late on most nights.

There really is a lot to see and do when you are visiting this quaint little fishing village. One of the most popular destinations is only 3.6 kilometers outside of the village. The Nossa Senhora da Rocha chapel is nestled snuggly in the headlands overlooking the sea and it is here that one can see some of the most awe-inspiring and picturesque views of the Algarve coastline.
