Castle Fraser is considered to be one of the most elaborate Z plan castles that was built in Scotland. This castle was built between 1575-1636 by Michael Fraser, and it was sophisticated architectural work that had been planned out between two families.

There are two castles that neighbor the Castel Fraser and they were all built with the same type of architectural design in mind. Those are the Crathes Castle and the Craigievar Castle, all of them are owned and managed by the National Trust of Scotland.

One of the most elaborate rooms that have been built in the castle is known as the Great Hall. There are so many different rooms in the castle that have portraits of all of the family members that lived in the castle from every century that the castle existed. One of the laigh biggins of the 17th century now has a shop which sells souvenirs that represent the castle to those that come by to visit it.

The garden alone is historic and it features a variety of different shrubs, flowers, vegetables, and more! There is also a beautiful path that you can walk down near the castle that will give you a beautiful view of the hills.

Although Castle Fraser was first considered to be a defensive structure, it has been evolved now for many years to make comfortable as a place of residence for the family.

During the year of 1570 is when the Frasers really begin to prosper more with the environment of the castle; as far as making some basic home-like changes.
