Cawdor Castle is nothing like the typical monument, because it is built in a way that would remind you more of a home. Until this very day it is still a place that is very livable. The Cawdor family, whom the castle was named after, is still living there in the castle today.

The Cawdor Castle dates all the way back to the 14th century, and it was built by Thanes of Cawdor. It was built around a holly tree which is known to be a legend behind. The castle home has evolved a lot since when it was first built and the newest additions date back to the 17th century. There are some true Scottish Features presented within the design of the castle that can be noticed in the walls, roof, as well as the gables which are made from stone. The strong materials have kept the castle standing very well and it still looks great after so many centuries.
