Chillinham Castle is a place where Sir Humphry Wakefield Bt and his wife, Lady Wakefield live with their family. Since the 13th century, the castle has been lived in and owned by the same relatives.

The Grey Lords were responsible for building the dungeons and the towers in the castle. They also built the parklands and the gardens which many people still enjoy today!

Even now though it is the 21st century, active restoration still remains to go on in the castle. There are a lot of different projects that continue, including metalwork, ornamental plaster, masonry work, and more!

Throughout the rooms in the castle there are a variety of different styles. Each room is vibrant with uniqueness and you can learn about the history that occurred in each room.

Today, there is every day life that happens in the castle since the family still remains to use it as a home. There are many events that people can take part in at the castle, including drama, music, and child welfare.

The Armoury is one of the rooms that you can pay to get tickets to enter. In this room you will experience lots of different weaponry and memorabilia.

The Still Room is another interesting room inside the castle. It has been said that those that have tried to steal items from the castle are cursed by this room.

There are letters that are found there from those that think that the curse is a joke. There are photos of Everest in this room, and a great Uncle of the family who made an attempt to steal from the possessions.

The castle is open daily, except Saturdays from April until Halloween. The basic admission is £9.50. If you are just looking for some great place for your Wedding, then don’t look further.

This castle is open to all the people that wish to get married and want to enjoy medieval atmosphere during this special occasion. It is also possible to book one of the medieval rooms and stay at the castle overnight.
