Brighton is the town of England and is located at Great Britain’s South Coast. The existence of ancient settlement of the area is on records in the famous and yet a disgraceful book known as ‘Domes Day Book’. The book was written or compiled, should I say, in 1086 under the direct order of ‘William the Conqueror’. Talking about the book will get me away from the main topic so I will leave it for some other article.
Now back to Brighton, during 18 th century the town of Brighton developed into a health resort with introduction of sea bathing. Sea bathing was a relatively new idea at that time. Because of many deaths that occurred because of people swimming in open sea, areas were made for the people to swim while they can easily be watched by life-guards. This was also used as health bath as at that time it was a popular idea of taking sea bath for health purposes.

Day Trip to Brighton
After the laying of railway track to Brighton in 1841, the day trippers from London became very frequent. As a result, tourism sector flourished in the area and population started increasing rapidly as people moved in to the town to open new business and get settled.
Royal Pavilion was built as a palace during early 19th century for Prince Regent which has some exquisite oriental interior. There is also another building with oriental touch of interior, ‘Sassoon Mausoleum’. The bodies are moved to some other place and buried while the place is used a supper club. Some of the other noted land marks are:
- Brighton Marine Palace and Pier
- West Pier
- Brighton Clock Tower
- Volk’s Electric Railway
- Brighton Marina
- Black Rock
- Grand Hotel
- Brighton Wheel
Another famous place of the Brighton is the University of Brighton, many students from abroad come to this university because it is cheaper than London and then nearly as alive as London. In fact many feel very comfortable being there as they feel London is over populated and rush area.
A train trip from London to Brighton will cost you £15 to £25 which depends upon the time of the departure. There are number of trains between London and Brighton every day and that is the reason that day tripper from London plan in a way that they get there in the morning and leave late at night.

Things to Do in Brighton
Like mentioned above there are many historical and amazing site in Brighton which mightbe a treat for photography lovers. The other day I saw a large canvas prints of the Brighton wheel in one of my friends office in London, it is not as huge as London Eye but an amazing piece of art no doubt. Other than photography, you will have following opportunities and things to get yourself entertained:
- Sightseeing
- Paragliding/Para Motor
- Sea Kayaking
- Museums
- Sports Stadium and Grounds
- Concerts on weekends
- Brighton Dome
- Go Karting
Brighton had all of above mentioned activities and many more of the water sports and some themed parks to entertain you and your young ones. It will be a good idea to plan a day’s trip to the town when you are in London the next time. UK is not all about London, the sceneries that you will find in other cities are mostly unseen by many tourists since they feel comfortable sticking with London only. There are some very warm people with a great loving attitude to welcome guests. I am sure you will enjoy your trip there. I wish you happy holidays and season greetings.
