City of Dubrovnik is proudly called the Pearl of the Adriatic Sea and is considered the most beautiful city in Croatia. Since 1979 is listed on the UNESCO World Heritage site.
It is situated in the southern part of Croatia known as Dalmatia. The city was known even more during the war in the former Yugoslavia.

All the cars are banned from the entire old town of Dubrovnik and there is a pedestrian zone.
The whole Dubrovnik is protected by 2 km long, massive medieval walls, which are up to 6 meters wide.

The fortification includes two gates Vrata od Ploče and Vrata od Pila, St. John Fortress and a small fort Minceta.
Thanks to the fact that the walls are built around the whole city they offer great views of all the local sights, the countryside and the sea.

Stradun is the main street of Dubrovnik. On its western part you can find Large Onofrio’s Fountain, which was a part of medieval water supply system and was used for washing up the visitors when coming to the city.
At the other end of the Stradun there is a Luža square with great Sponza palace. On the same square you can also find the oldest preserved Public Sculpture in Dubrovnik – Orlando’s Column.

Another outstanding monument of Dubrovnik is the Rector’s Palace from 15th century. It is a Gothic and Renaissance palace with Baroque additions and was used as the former residence of local rulers.

In August you can attend the festival of Dubrovnik’s Summer Games. For swimming there are wonderful beaches in the vicinity, and even a water park right in the city.
