The Guildford Cathedral has become an imposing landmark and inside showcases peace, beauty and tranquillity. The construction of the cathedral was made into diocese in the year 1927, and the designer Sir Edward Maufe started to begin about nine years later. The foundation of the cathedral was laid down by Dr. Cosmo Gordon Lang who was the Archbishop of Canterbury during 1936.
Once the Second World War started the construction was interrupted because of the war. Overall the cathedral didn’t get finished until May 17, 1961. The location of the cathedral is found in the commanding spot of Stag Hill, the reason behind the name was because it was known that the Kings of England used to hunt there. The solid red brick outlines can be seen miles away because it’s so visible.
