The Lincoln Cathedral can be seen almost 25 miles away, because of its size. This gorgeous cathedral’s full name is known as The Cathedral Church of Blessed Virgin Mary Lincoln.
This cathedral is located in Lincoln, England and is the seat of the Bishop of Lincoln. The building of this architecture started on 1088 and continued to be built throughout medieval times in several phrases.
For over 249 years it remained to be the tallest building in the world from the year 1300 to 1549. In the cathedral there are stone carvings which are called the Lincoln Imp which have different variations behind the surrounding figure. One of the stories from the 14th century surrounding the imp described that there were two mischievous imps that were sent by Satan to do some evil work on Earth, after they started to cause some mayhem they headed towards the Lincoln Cathedral and there the mischievous imps started to smash table’s chairs and even tripped up the Bishop.

Once this destruction was occurring an Angel came down and appeared in the Angel Choir and spoke, the Angel told the two imps to stop and the imps started throwing rocks and causing more damage so the Angel turned the first imp into stone while the other imp ran away. At the cathedral you can see the imp that was turned into sitting on top of his stone column that is located in the Angel Choir.
There’s also a library located in the cathedral which is home to a rare collection of over 277 manuscripts. Another amazing feature that is seen in the Lincoln cathedral is two major rose windows which feature some medieval architecture that had originated from England. Another architectural feature is there vaults.
There are many different vaults located around the cathedral and they are said to be some experimental as well as being original. Today it has been said that it takes over 1 million a year to keep this cathedral in shape, so the cathedral can keep its historical roots as well as keeping its beautiful architecture up to date and current.
