More Details about the National Park

The aim of the National Park is to stay as natural and reserved as possible. Although there are many people that vacation here or take tours here, there are some areas that are off limits for people to touch or go near just so that it will keep its natural appearance and many of its natural features.

The park was founded in the year of 1986 and has a law in place for it that ensures its protection. The law includes the following details:

  • The Wadden National Park is a landscape that is conserved and protect from adverse effects.
  • Any natural process that is present in the National Park is able to continue.
  • Wild life and the plants are conserved and able to continue their natural growth and life process without being disturbed.

Although the activity will continue and the national park remains to be conserved, people are able to visit as long as they have respect for the nature. Generally there are information boards, or tour guide pamphlets that help people to find their way around the national park without the disturbance of the surrounding nature.

What Makes this place so Unique?

There are many places that allow Lower Saxony Wadden National Park to be more unique than many other places throughout the world. Below there is a list of some factors which cause Lower Saxony to be so unique:

  • Seabed slopes that are only 10 metres in depth
  • Sediments in the river that travel to the Wadden Sea and form into deposits underwater
  • The unique tidal waves which are very strong and often leave behind things on land from the sea
  • Natural sand dunes and banks which act as water breakers, creating boundaries or barriers for high tides. These dunes were formed by the deposits of sand
  • The climate and the temperature cause the type of tidal waves that occur and the pattern that they occur in

Why Lower Saxony is Important?

In general, the entire national park is important, but Lower Saxony is home to lots of wildlife including the birds that migrate there, seals, and waterfowl. It is also a breeding ground for many of the birds or other types of creatures that live there in the water.
