The area of Thessaly, and specifically, is one of the many places in Greece that you can visit at any time of the year and still have plenty of activities and sights to see that will keep you busy. Although you run the risk of getting a little cold and wet during the winter months, it is not like other areas in Greece which basically shut down during the cold months.
Of course during Easter celebrations the monasteries of Meteora become a very busy and crowded place, so that may be something you wish to avoid if you prefer to leave the hustle and bustle behind, but for religious visitors this is really the best time to visit.

The Valley Of Fog
If you have browsed through the pictures of Meteora then you’ll know that you don’t have to be particularly religious to appreciate the history and beauty in the area. The views from the top, among the monasteries, are all the reason you need to make a special trip out this way.
Visiting the monasteries is a relatively cheap way to spend your time, with entrance fees from €2 and up, but they are not accessible at all times. Many of the monasteries have been abandoned over the years, but the working monasteries are closed for part of the day to allow the monks to give prayer in private and carry out day to day tasks. As always you should check ahead, closer to the time of your departure, to plan your day accordingly.
