Ahhh… , many people have heard of it or seen it’s picture perfect surroundings featured in movies, but how much of that legend is myth and how much of it is real? That is perhaps too big of a question to be answered right here so I will suffice to say that it’s a little of both.
It’s true that Mykonos is a huge party town, full of visitors and locals alike who are ready to drink all night and literally boatloads of cruise ship travellers stopping by every now and then, and you may be hard pressed trying to find a bit of quiet time.
But if you are willing to explore and move away from the main tourist areas you can really find a few hidden gems that seem untouched by scramble for the tourist’s money. You may even be able to find a quiet piece of beach if you do your homework and keep away from the more popular strips.
One last tip on the beaches: Paradise Beach is definitely not one of the more private beaches; this is where the party crowd hangs out and drinks until sunrise.
Mykonos is also one of the most expensive places to visit in Greece, which means that you may have to cut your stay here short if you wish to see more of Greece on a limited budget.
It is a decent starting point for your journey too, with boats, ferries, planes, and what have you, all ready to take you to your next Greek destination, or back to where you came from!
