Upon taking a glimpse of the Oakham Castle from the outside you will see that it is a castle that is expired by the times of the 12th century. It was built with one of the most domestic architecture strategies that could be used in England.
Like many of the castles that have a Great Hall, the one in this castle is recognized for a variety of collective Horseshoes that were donated by the Peers of the Realm.
When entering the castle, you will notice that it is decorated with plenty of sculptures that date all the back to the 12th century. When looking up at the columns you will see a total of 6 different musicians that play a different type of instrument. The musicians are sculptures that were mad out of stone. The stone sculptures are damaged, but when looking at them you can tell that they were made of great quality. It is believed that the stones were carved by the Masons and they once worked at the Canterbury Cathedral.

Walkelin de Ferrers who was a Norman baron is known to be the one that is responsible for building the Great Hall. It was built from about 1189 to 1190. Some of the remains of this building are now under the grass. Earthen banks and stone walls now surround it; these stone walls consist of at least two towers. North of these towers are some gardens and a pond with fish in it.
Admission to the castle is free, so if you want to save some money and go for a trip at the same time, Oakham Castle would be a great tip for you. The castle is open daily except Sundays and Tuesdays and if you would like to get married here.
