A highly popular and endlessly interesting place to visit on a trip to the Ukraine is the city of Odessa. This cosmopolitan and historic place has plenty to offer tourists from all over the world, making it one of Eastern Europe’s top travel destinations.

One of the top attractions is Odessa’s Museum of Western and Eastern Art. This collection of fine art from both the classical western and oriental traditions includes work by some of history’s finest artists, such as Michelangelo, Rubens, Caravaggio, Frans Hals, and many, many more, making it one of the best public fine art collections in Europe. Other interesting museums in the centre of Odessa include the Jewish Museum of Odessa, and the Kinomuseum.

Like much of the Ukraine, Odessa has plenty of beautiful historical religious sites, and you will definitely want to view the Assumption Cathedral and the St Nickolas Cathedral during your stay for their incredible architecture and fascinating history. The catacombs are also well worth a visit.

Odessa also offers an excellent city zoo, dolphinarium, peaceful and well kept city gardens and plenty of landmarks and points of interest, including the Potemkin Steps from which you can get a great view, the duke de Richelieu Monument, and the old cannon.

Odessa has a vibrant and fun nightlife, with plenty of bars and high energy clubs where locals and tourists alike can spend a great evening out. If you prefer something cultural in the evening, Odessa is famous for its opera and ballet theatre.
