Opatija is known as a western Croatian town that is located southwest of Rijeka. It lies right along the Adriatic coasts and offers wonderful views and plenty of things to do. It is a common place that many tourists love to go because to many it is exotic and rare.

The Angiolina Park
The Angiolina Park is one of the many places that you can visit while you are in Opatija. This is a beautiful place and it is historic. Documents were found showing that the place was built from 1854 to 1860. The property once belonged to Iginio Scarpa who was in love with nature. There were many plants brought here from the Far East. Some plants from South American and Australia can be found at the Angiolina Park.
The Park of Sv. Jakov
Sv. Jakov’s development started in 1845 and it ended in 1860. However throughout the century there have been some minor renovations; it still basically looks the same as it did when it was first built. The park is considered to be a horticultural monument with an area of about 3.64 hectares. There are 60 different fields that the park is divided up into and about 160 different plants that are growing there. The Japanese Camellia is one of the most interesting plants that can be found in the gardens of the park.
The Fountain of Helios and Selena
This place is truly marvelous; it is a very beautiful park which sits close to the Imperial hotel which is nearby the church of St. Jacobs. Hans Rathautskog is the sculptor of the statues that you see at this park. The fountain stands as a symbol for the sun and the moon.
Maiden with a Seagull
This statue is one that located near the one time cemetery; it is of a girl that is made of stone. She has her arm extended with a seagull on it. Car is known as the sculptor of this figure and it as stood there in its location in 1956. It is now known to be one of the most popular symbols of Opatija.
Juraj Matija Sporer Art Pavilion
During the Austro-Hungarian Monarchy is the time that this pavilion was made. It was structured in 1899 and it is known as one of the most beautiful landmarks in Opatija.
St. Jacov’s Church
It is determined that this church was built in 1420. It was a place of refuge for the Benedictine refugees. Today there is very little left of what the original design was. The main reason for this is because the church was renovated towards the end of the 18th century. It was also expanded in size in 1930. At the Abbey there were court trials held and it is now an attraction where many people from all over the country visit.
