Pješčana Uvala is a small village which is located only a few kilometers away from one of the more populated cities in Istria. It can be found hidden at the end of the Veruda Channel which has protected it from the elements for centuries. Unlike many of the other villages in Istria, Pješčana Uvala is not built upon a hill. However, on the nearest hill to the village one can find a number of important archeological sites. In the channel itself, there is an old Franciscan monastery which anyone can visit by boat.

Pješčana Uvala was originally developed to be an oasis for the population of Pula who wanted to get away from the hustle and bustle of big city living. Today the city is a popular tourist destination for not just Pula residents, but for people from all over the globe who want to relax and enjoy the Mediterranean climate.

One of the best marinas on the Adriatic coast can be found in Pješčana Uvala. It is home to 18 piers with a total of 650 berths. There are many apartments, hotels rooms and other lodgings available in the area as well. You will also find a number of bars, coffee houses and restraints spread out throughout the city.

The area where Pješčana Uvala is located today has been inhabited since prehistoric times with a number of important artifacts from the Bronze Age having been discovered in digs nearby. There is also a Bronze Age fortress which was found on the islands in the Veruda Channel. It is also home to one of the largest forts to have ever been found in the Istrian peninsula.

For those who love to scuba dive, there are several great diving locations in the channel near the ancient city of Pješčana Uvala. There is a lot to do and see in and around this village by the sea.
