The Great Yarmouth Sea Life Centre is one of those ‘must see’ places to visit when visiting Great Yarmouth simply because it is fun for the entire family. It is the perfect place to spend a rainy day or to get away from the hustle and bustle of the beach and the Marketplace.
Every child has a natural curiosity about the world around them. When visiting the beach, playing in the sand and swimming in the sea, children want to know about sea shells, crabs, sea turtles, and fish that swim in the sea. Now they can get all the answers to their questions and learn about other animals such as penguins and crocodiles.
One of the coolest activities and exhibits at the Sea Life Centre is the Interactive Childrens Touch Pool / Rock pool. These are native and tropical rockpools where the children actually get to get their hands wet and touch the various sea creatures and tropical water creatures that live in the rockpools around the coast as they learn about each creature. There are starfish, crabs, cleaner shrimp, sea squirts, limpets, and even an underwater camera the children can play with.
There is never a dull moment in the penguin enclosure. The Humboldt Penguins are always up to something as they spend their day chasing each other around, splashing in the water, and chasing their shadows.
Another exhibit is the African Dwarf Crocodiles. There are only two of them in the exhibit and Ntombi, the female, loves to come up close to the glass to show off her jagged crooked teeth and her heavily armored body.
Have you ever wondered what it would be like to get close to a shark and watch it swim in its natural habitat? With the Shark Tunnel at the Sea Life Centre, you get to experience what it feels like to be surrounded by a million-litre tank of water with several species of sharks, rays, Jellyfish, and brightly colored fish swimming all around you.
With over 1,000 creatures in 60 displays, it is no wonder that the Sea Life Centre is such a popular destination for the whole family to enjoy.
