How does twisting and turning through the beautiful Austrian countryside, whilst the summer sun warms your skin and the breeze whips your hair, sound to you? Good? Then you might want to pay a visit to St. Johann Summer Toboggan Run. The two one-kilometre tracks have fifteen curves each, and they run almost parallel to each other — anyone for a race?
It’s perfect for kids. You choose how fast you want to go so you’ll never find yourself going dangerously quickly and mums don’t have to worry. Children younger than seven can ride on a parent’s lap; any older than that and they can go on a toboggan on their own.

There’s no huge arduous climb to get to the top, either — the Harschbichl double chair lift of the St. Johann cable cars takes all the work out of it. As you ascend, you get beautiful views of the scenery around Harschbichl and Hochfeldbahn. If you need a break, you can take a walk around the nearby Angerer-Alm mountain lake or just sit and relax, taking in the sights of the Kitzbühl Alps. Then if you fancy a snack, the Almhof Snack Bar or the Rollba-Stüberl can make sure you’re well fed and watered, ready to take on the toboggan again!
An adult toboggan ticket is € 6,50, or € 6,00 with a Visitors’ Card. For a child it’s € 4,00. If you want to have a few rides, there’s a buy two get one free offer.
I have heard of the St Johann Summer Toboggan Run before. I think it is a nice place to be for a weekend. I would want to be there with family if i tour Austria sooner. Thanks for this useful information!
