The Bishop’s Palace is an 800 year old medieval palace which is home to the Bishops of Bath and the Wells. It is surrounded by its famous yet unique moat which is crossed by the thousands of people that come to visit the palace each year.

When visiting the city of Wells, The Bishop’s Palace is one place that you don’t want to regret not visiting.

The Bishop Jocelin Trotman was the first of all of the bishops to hold the title of Bishop of Bath & Wells. A crown license was received for the purpose of building the residence and the deer park.

Here visitors will be able to enjoy about 14 acres of gardens with many well pools. People are able to schedule family events here and be guided on tours to learn about the many state rooms and the history of each room.

Gift shops are available for those that want to purchase souvenirs, and if you choose you can have a slice of cake and tea.

There is a private chapel that visitors are most welcome to walk around and explore.

The ruined Great Hall is one of the many places that people enjoy exploring because of the neat artifacts that are tied to it.

Enjoy seeing the mute swans that live along the moat. When they are hungry they have a bell that they ring for food; something that is very unique.

Bring children along with you to see the willow dragon on the premises which leads down an exciting pathway trail to the gift shop.
