2. Salzburg

Situated in the Northern Alps, the city of Salzburg is the fourth largest city in Austria. The city is known as the birthplace of Wolfgang Amadeus Mozart and was the main location for filming many parts of The Sound of Music.

3. Innsbruck

Situated along the Wipptal between the Patscherkofel and Nordkette mountains in the Inn Valley, Innsbruck is known as the host of both the 1976 as well as 1964 Winter Olympics.

Today the city is one of the most popular sporting destinations in all of Austria. Every year, countless tourists make their way to the city to test their skills on the freshly powered slopes just outside of town.

Located in the state of Salzburg, the city of Zell am See is a popular tourist destination. The city itself is located only 100 kilometers away from Innsbruck and it is considered to be an important transportation hub for the region.

5. Mayrhofen

The small town of Mayrhofen is located along the Hintertux glacier; about an hour’s drive outside of Innsbruck. The city is known for its skiing and a number of the area’s most popular slopes are open all year long.

There are many fun things to do when visiting this small town which includes hiking on the glacier or even paragliding over the valley. You can enjoy breathtaking views of surrounding countryside.
