Why travel the world? Why not! Why not fall in love with the world and everything that it has to offer? Why not learn about your yourself and where you come from? Why not expand your worldview and get a glimpse into cultures that you never even knew existed. Travelling the world will expand your horizons like nothing else.
Travel to: Learn how to enjoy yourself
There is something funny about our comfort levels. While it’s great to be comfortable, it is only possible to value comfort by being uncomfortable. If you want to truly appreciate all of the comforts and luxuries that you have been taking for granted, you need to ditch them- at least temporarily. Get out of your comfort zone and see what life is like out there. Find new things that you love. Find out who you are and change a little bit of who you are.
TRAVEL TO: Start living in the moment
One of the most magical things about travel is that it slows down time. When we are caught in the chaos of everyday life, it is all too easy for a month to fly by. Then a year. Then a decade. Before you know it, you are middle aged and wondering where the time went. When you are always living within your comfort zone, time goes so quickly. Why travel out of your comfort zone? To stop time! When your heart is racing, when every experience is new and eye open… well, you are living in a different time zone. Time works differently in the wider world.
TRAVEL TO: See the Real World
Want to get a real education? Get out of the classroom! Toss your French grammar books. Go to Paris and start talking to the locals. Forget about what you have read about life in Central America and go talk to the people who are living there. Make friends from around the globe and open up your eyes.
TRAVEL TO: Learn to Overcome challenges
Think you know how to order a coffee at Starbucks? Try ordering a grande iced, sugar, vanilla latte with soy milk in China. Test your map reading skills by navigating the narrow, winding, endless lanes of Marrakesh. Learn how to do all of the little everyday things over again. Find a way to communicate without language. After a challenging day, you will remember how good it feels to complete a seemingly impossible series of challenges.
